During this time of Social Distancing, Sermons and Messages from Rev. Dr. Margaret Shepard are available. There are also Live Streaming sermon options at churches in our Diocese.

Dear Friends of St. Mary’s,

By now you have read the communication from Bishop Kendrick concerning worship: “All in-person, group worship in the diocese is suspended until Easter Sunday, April 12. I realize this includes services of Holy Week. As Holy Week draws near, we will revisit this. Even if we must postpone Holy Week and Easter, we will celebrate! After all, the church set the date of Easter, and it is movable. So, it may be we ‘move’ Holy Week and Easter. Easter is coming!”

This also includes weekly gatherings of 5 or more.  We will continue the Bread Ministry, as well as AA and NA.

The Bishop came to this decision after receiving word from the CDC, much prayer, and in consultation with most of the clergy of the diocese.

I urge you to use this time in “getting ready” for that “Great Getting’ Up Morning!  This can actually be a wonderful experience of expectation if we will lean into it.

I will be posting sermons on Face Book and on our web page, as well as meditations for your lengthened Lenten time.  Mimi and I are working on how to connect with the whole parish, so stay tuned.

I want you to know that I am thinking of you this day and holding you close in my heart.  I am so grateful for and trust deeply in the riches and gifts of the Spirit grounding us, embracing us, guiding us, and uniting us in the Mystery of Love.

May we be ever mindful that we are never alone and that we live and move and have our being in the Holy One.  As we face into these challenging days, my prayer is that we live this reality from the deepest recesses of our hearts and our shared community.

There is a wonderful chant or prayer you might use daily: “Changeless and calm, Deep Mystery; ever more deeply rooted in Thee.  (Based on the words of Elizabeth of the Trinity.)

May we each be a living presence of healing, compassion, and peace.

Blessings and love,
